The church would like to kindly highlight the soup kitchen ministry at Buen Pastor (Good Shepherd) Episcopal Church in Newburgh. Each month, several members of St. John’s, along with volunteers from other churches, come together to serve substantial bag lunches to those in need, every third Saturday.

Volunteers are always welcomed and appreciated to help with preparing, bagging, and distributing the meals. Whether someone can spare an hour or the entire four hours, once a year or once a month, every bit of help makes a difference. No special skills are needed—there are roles suitable for everyone. Most of the work takes place indoors (with everyone masked), and those who prefer not to participate in outdoor distribution are also encouraged to join in the indoor tasks. It’s a warm, friendly environment where volunteers can enjoy chatting and catching up while serving others.

In addition to meals, clothing is also handed out during these visits. If anyone is interested in volunteering or would like more information, they are encouraged to speak with Deacon David, a church representative, or current participants. Your support and kindness are greatly appreciated and truly make an impact.
