Fostering a Sense of Belonging

We are so thankful for you!

We Belong Together....

“It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength.”

-Maya Angelou

At St. Johns,  fostering a sense of belonging for all is at the heart of our faith and mission.

We believe that every individual is a cherished child of God, deserving of love, compassion, and dignity.

Our congregation is dedicated to creating inclusive spaces that celebrate diverse voices and experiences, and we are committed to pursuing justice through equitable practices.

We extend a warm welcome to everyone, affirming and uplifting the LGBTQ+ community while embracing the rich tapestry of God’s creation.

We offer support to those facing mental or physical health challenges and actively work to alleviate the pain and suffering of those who have been harmed.

Rooted in our baptismal promises, we view diversity as a divine gift, striving to cultivate a church where everyone is welcomed and empowered to express their faith.

We aim to foster a culture of inclusion, serving as a beacon of hope that transcends boundaries and borders.

We hold ourselves accountable to a foundational principle of love.

We Honor and Remember...

We honor and remember the Indigenous peoples of the world, particularly the Tongva, Munsee, Minisink, Oneida, and Iroquois, whose ancestral lands we occupy. These sacred spaces were once their homes, taken from them through injustice.

We express our gratitude for the Indigenous leaders who continue to enrich our community, guiding us with their wisdom on living lives of honor and humility. We acknowledge that the Earth is not ours to claim; instead, we belong to the Earth and are interconnected as one family.

As we reflect on our past, we commit to learning from our mistakes and serving as instruments of justice and peace for all, particularly for the original Indigenous inhabitants of this land.

We hope to leave a legacy of Compassion and Love....♥️

Reading List....

These books represent the personal views and opinions of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the positions or opinions of St. Johns.  We welcome dialogue and work hard to challenge ourselves by approaching these topics with grace and an open heart.

The more we learn, the more empathy we build.

Learn from the past to better love in the now...

"Today’s events are tomorrow’s history, yet events seen by the naked eye lack the depth and breadth of human struggles, triumphs and suffering. Writing history is writing the soul of the past… so that the present generation may learn from past mistakes, be inspired by their ancestor’s sacrifices, and take responsibility for the future." -Epifanio de los Santos
