These remarkable people embody the spirit of service and leadership, guiding us in faith and fellowship. As we reflect on their contributions, we are reminded of the words from 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13: “Respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work.” We are truly blessed to have such committed leaders among us, nurturing our spiritual growth and fostering a vibrant community.
Rev. Suzanne Toro, Rector
The Reverend Suzanne Toro became a cherished member of the St. Johns Family in 2013, after spending 25 vibrant years in New York City. Originally hailing from Toronto, Canada, she ventured to the bustling city to pursue her passion for Musical Theater, where she honed her remarkable talent for singing—a gift that has since become a blessing for our community.
Suzanne’s journey towards Priesthood was neither swift nor straightforward; it unfolded over many years, culminating in a divine call to serve in 2003. She studied at The General Theological Seminary, and in 2010, she embraced her ordination, ready to share her heart with the world.
During her time in seminary, Suzanne cultivated a profound ability to love and to teach others the essence of love. Her early ministry began as a Seminarian and Assistant Rector at Holy Apostles Church, where her spirit and dedication shone brightly. In 2013, she was called to serve as Rector at St. Johns, where she has since nurtured the congregation with thoughtful, uplifting, and inspirational messages.
For over a decade, Mother Suzanne has been a guiding light in our community. In her moments of rest, she enjoys the company of her best friend, Molly. Together, they explore nature through hikes, delve into the pages of books, and connect with friends, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Mother Suzanne embodies kindness and beauty, and we are truly blessed to have her as our guiding compass, inspiring us all to live with love and purpose.
